2019 Sierra engine issues at 11,800 miles

Hi all, first time posting, first time owner of GMC.

I have a 2019 gmc sierra SLT double cab with 5.3 engine. Bought it in November. I have approximately 11,800 miles on the truck. 3 weeks ago  brought my truck in to the dealership as it was acting like it was struggling to stay running and with some really strange knocking in the engine, plus my dash looked like a christmas tree with all the lights and errors! after a few days of dicking around with the service department who never calls anyone back, I was told it was a sensor. Then I was told it was a lifter. Then I was told that they had to tear down the entire engine. The final diagnosis was 2 bad lifters and a bad pushrod??? They are going to replace 8 lifters & 4 pushrods, & the manifold.  11,800 miles?   The truck has been in the service bay for 3 weeks, with little information to me. Has anyone had a similar issue?

appreciate any advice.

Seen it.  We just did a 2020 with 2900 miles.  Lost #6 lifter and bent the pushrod.  It got the whole right bank of lifters replaced, 1 new pushrod and the oil control solenoid for cylinder 6 and was good as new.  Didn't damage anything else.

If you are worried about it, grab one of these:  https://www.rangetechnology.com/products/afm-dfm_disabler/

They just added support for the 2019+up new body trucks.  Get it direct from Range to ensure you have the most current version of it.
