Travel Trailer Freshen up

Recommended Posts

I been looking at trailers since last fall. Bumper pull 22-26 ft. 5000-6000lbs

New ,for what I wanted, was way out of my price range.

So the search for a decent used one began.

I probably looked at 15 of them all around 12-15 years old and all needing a little work. A turnkey nice one in that size is 10-13 grand.

I saw a real nice 2008 26ft Forest River the guy hardly used it . It needed a new Fridge. $8700 asking I offered $7700 thinking I could get a new fridge for 700-800. he said no.

Looked at a bunch of them right after the covid started then gave up since not sure what was going to happen.

Plus I had to get my lift kit installed.[emoji24][emoji40]

Got that done and my wife started looking on Facebook market place.

Ran across a 2004 Keystone Hornet Lite. 25FL 4900lbs dry, 1300 cargo. 6200GVW.

New roof. New tires. New battery. New Awning. A/C just recharged blows cold.

Perfect for my Stock truck. 2018 Silverado double cab 5.3 6spd 3.42

One owner retired couple used two weeks a year that's it. The interior was clean but the linoleum floor was shot. No surprise there. A lot of the ones I looked at were bad too.

Everything worked flawless.

The shower has never been used they said.

We used it two weekends now and I'm now in the process of fixing what needs to be fixed.

Ripped out all the linoleum and carpet. Fixed a couple soft spots by the slide out and installed new laminate flooring so far.

Here it is the day I got home with it.

I'll post more pics later.7a075f02b0d703e8985edef74b1c3c6d.jpg

I started to trim it out after the flooring. I left a 3/8" gap everywhere so it's got room to move. Bedroom is done. I need to pickup a small piece of something to go under the stool. Re-hang the door. I'm changing all the hardware on all the cabinets to some silver/nickel colored ones I have left from a house we built 2 years ago. The gold is ugly. Looks 1980's not 2020.
Looks so much better now than than the ugly carpet and old school linoleum.
More pics to come working my way to the door.
BTW the bed is a queen and the purple blanket ain't staying d330d4e87396d81bb4c610b68015e2f7.jpg1cead098842837d5d8fd6792106b9f86.jpg8ae886c6cf5585c19b02e80ece8ed287.jpg

Gave it a bleach bath yesterday. Used 1/2 gallon mixed with 2 gallons hot water.
Got rid of all the yuck .
It's cdc guidelines clean now.
I also replaced the screw moulding along the roof. It was about 6" short and all cracked. Looks way better.
More interior pics coming . Need to clean my tools and mess up0cf3f5800804b166ac4360a05eb7be02.jpge3984b79364d93597b7989585b8d69cf.jpg

I think we are going to park it at the cabin for extra sleeping room for now. Cabin is just north of Mille Lacs Lake on Clear Lake Aitkin County. When we head more north we will just stop and hook it up and go. Couple trips planned to the North Shore northeast of Duluth.
