hello all. I just picked up a 2020 gmc sierra 1500. came with 2.7 turbo  and factory 22" chrome wheels. my question to the forum team, are there any older wheels would fit for winter wheels?

Welcome to the site.

Think the problem you will run into is the brakes are bigger on the T1 platform. I might check your local dealers for some "take offs" from a 19 or 20, maybe Craigslist?

I you don't want to use steelies, dealers here usually have new 'take-offs' from trucks that had aftermarket wheels installed when they bought the truck.  Means you can have factory GM wheels with whatever winter tires you prefer.

There are also several tire/wheel package shops that deal in take-offs.

Presumably they get most at a 'wholesale, price from the new vehicle dealers that install enough aftermarket sets that they  can't use all the take-offs.

The tires for steelies are normally narrower and better in winter. (Most force per inch) also the tires are much cheaper!

and if you do happen to hit something hard enough instead of shattering a wheel you'll just bend it. you should be able to grab a stock set of work truck steelies for like a hundred fifty bucks for the whole set with tires!

Dealership is going to charge you at least $250 bucks a wheel for takeoffs.
