Rattling/clicking noise when gassing/accelerating

I just purchased a 2017 Silverado with 43,000 miles and I am now noticing a small rattling/clicking/knocking noise coming from underneath the divers side area when I gas it or accelerate. Is that normal? I’m just curious because I would at least think it being a 2017 these transmission/engines should be quiet... anyone else having the same issue? Didn’t want to ask the dealership to look at it incase it is normal.

Thinking it is your seat, lots of posts on here about the crappy seats in the K2"s.

Haha if the seats are some how connected to the gas pedal then I’ll believe that. Lol.

Grab the bottom of your seat in the front left hand corner, push up and down, and side to side. If the click is your seat you will probably here it on the up and down push.

Hey, how did your visit to the dealer go on Monday? New shocks?

From my experience from my 2002 Silverado, this is most likely a transmission issue. But let’s say you are right, accelerating can cause this loose seat to rattle?

Tomorrow was their next available date. My appointment is at 7am so it will give them all day to figure out what’s wrong with it. Will let you know once I hear back from them tomorrow.

Yes sir, my 14 felt like the seat was not attached to the floor. Made more noises than the seat in my 1973 Vega.

Ok thanks good to know I’ll look into that seat once I get the truck back.

If this is a marbles in a can sound, with low RPM and the engine under a slight load, it’s more than likely the steering shaft seal letting DI pump noise into the cabin.

low speed pre-ignition. Mine did it until I switched from 91 to 94 octane.

They all do it to varying degree's of severity. Most people think their hearing the injectors or fuel pump. You can tell its lspi when the ticking is inconsistent at part throttle under slight load, hill etc.

Just checked the truck today. Not the seats. Any other ideas on what it can be?

Have not had experienced this one, maybe this from above:

If the sound disappears when you turn the steering, like going around a corner, and then reappears on the straight, its likely the steering shaft boot. There is a TSB for the 2017s for this. I really don’t think it’s a predetonation noise or seat noise, if it sounds like it’s coming from under the steering wheel.

An alternative solution is to pump some lithium grease into the seal yourself to see if the noise settles down. If it does, that’s your issue.

Can a 2017 Silverado flex fuel take 94 octane?

    • Thanks for all the help so far!   I did try right from 2026 right down to 2021, and only from 2023 down lets me select the option for tire psi change, but I get the vehicle not supported error!   I'll definitely try it under Chevrolet after work today, and I'll get the sensor number from gm for my truck tire sensors. And I'll let you know if it works for me under Chevrolet!   And if that doesn't work, I'm going to guess that what @Atlas said about maybe I have a different body control module could be true!
    • From where I'm sitting this sounds like a compatibility problem. I'm assuming the 2007 was a 900-series truck, and not an 800-series (they were sold side-by-side in dealerships that model year), since it starts and runs.   This is why I HATE post-2006 vehicles. Everything becomes a huge problem when you try to keep the thing running for longer than the manufacturer has designed it to.    I can't remember when Global-A architecture started - either '10 or '11. For your sake, you had better hope it's '11, or you're going to be spending some BIG money to correct this cluster-eff. That's something you need to find out before doing anything else. You may have several computers bricked ... but the fact that it runs tells me you MIGHT be ok here.     EDIT: Just did a quick refresher. You're screwed. This is Global-A. The 2 systems are NOT compatible in the slightest. Once you get the correct engine in there that IS compatible, you're going to need to see how many computers are locked. Absolute NIGHTMARE to straighten out, too. Your buddy might be better off cutting his losses and finding something else.   Welcome to post-2006 vehicle electronics. This is why I quit the industry, and drive nothing built after 1994. This stuff takes all the fun out of wrenching!

    • True, hard to say what differences there may or may not be between Chev and GM as well as a production year or mid year part change either.    I just found it odd that under the Sierra choice on the Autel that many of the last few years of production year did not include the choice of changing the tire pressure but if that is an Autel thing or a GM thing as to why the choices were not there. Knowing what tpms sensors are on the truck should give some guidance into which choices on the tool even make sense to try as I wouldn't give up just yet with the tool but I guess he will see what if anything he comes up with if he finds out a bit more info and tries a few more things on the Autel.
    • I'm sure if you went to a junkyard where you go in and pull the part off the truck yourself, not a used part place where they do it for you, you can get that part on it's own.  Depending on if and what else you would be buying, and time of day, they might even just skip over adding it as a item to the bill.
