Can I plug oil pressure relief valve?

So I lost oil pressure today and engine staring making tapping afterwards. Hoping it is the oil pump. Anyway I ordered Melling M295HV high volume pump. Can I or should I delete the pressure relief valve above the filter?

I wouldn't if you still have all the AFM/DoD parts in the engine.

 

The high volume pump is overkill anyway, you are just going to make the relief work more when you never needed that much flow in the first place.
