Has anyone put on a hitch cover with a multipro tailgate. I am wondering if the same issues arise as the hitch problems.

Any pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have a hitch cover and it clears the tailgate with no problem

As a new Sierra owner... what issues arise with hitches and the MP tailgate?

If you deploy the inner tailgate to use the step, it will hit the hitch

Hmmm, well, that kinda sucks but is understandable. I typically like to keep my hitch on my trucks all the time but might not be a great idea now.

My hitch cover clears as well. But be careful, when you step on the multi pro, it flexes a bit towards the truck, so you have to allow for clearance with weight, not just without. Mine flexes about 3/8”.

Unwrntd,

Can you show a pic with the gate down. I am curious on how close it comes to the tailgate.

Thanks.

Countless shins will thank you for removing it.

That is one of two reasons why I keep it on there... watch where you're walking is the lesson here. The other reason being for people who want to park too close or rear end me.

Dent of shame.

I call mine the 'Scratch of Shame'. It now reminds me every time i activate the step to check that the hitch is out. Mine only made a scratch because i quickly realized what i did before i opened the step and got up, which definitely would have turned into a dent or worse if I would have stepped on it.

Let's be perfectly honest: anyone who says they never bump into their ball mount when it's left in the receiver is a liar.

Get a B&W hitch or the lockout switch if you want to keep it on. I have always kept my htch on my trucks in the past 1. No one needs to walk that close to my truck and 2. It has saved my bumper more than a few times.
