4l80e transmission swap to 2016 2500 Silverado

I have a 2016 Silverado 2500hd 6.0 with a 6l90e transmission I feel the shifts starting to get hard 3-5 and kick I'm not a fan of the shift patterns of the 6l90e and how frequently it shifts im wondering if anyone has swapped a older 4l80e out of the older 2500s into a new one I'm a huge fan of these transmissions and love the 4 speed because of reliability do y'all think it's possible and how hard would it be to accomplish.

Of course it's possible, given enough time money and effort.

 

It won't be easy, probably the most difficult part will be sorting out the computer issues, as the computer is expecting to control a 6l90e, and the engine and transmission computers work together to get power to the wheels.

Yeah I was thinking the same.

If I stayed with the 6L90 how would I go about changing the shift points I have 4:10 gears idk if regearing would change anything along those lines or most likely a tune on the transmission?

The E78 computer was never designed to work with a 4 speed auto.

 

If you ripped out all the wiring and installed wiring from a 2007-2009 truck you could probably run a E38 with a T43 transmission controller on a 4L80e OS swap. But that's a ton of work and doubtful anyone would spend the time or money to do that. The kicker is that absolutely nothing else in the truck would work after that. You'd have no ABS, tractions control, no cluster, no BCM functions or anything so let just say it's not worth it.

 

 

Only a tune will be able to change how the transmission shifts.

Sweet thank you for the information I have 4:10 gears would regearing do anything I have 35x12.50R17s I didnt really notice a difference putting them on also I unbolted the exhaust to where the 3rd cat is exhaust ends right under passenger door is that bad? Sure does sound good
