I’m looking to add sockets for most/all of the common lug nut sizes. I’m hoping Craftsman chrome sockets are thin/strong enough for this. I have a decent 1/2” breaker bar so I just need sockets. Should I just order a full standard and metric deep set? Pick and choose?

Thanks for the help!

I wouldn't trust anything Craftsman made now a days.  You'll probably find better tools at harbor freight.

I have tons of Craftsman tools. I think I have two of the 300+ piece mechanic/socket sets. One is about 10 years old and the other maybe 2-3 years old, never had any issues with them so far.

Various people sell full kits of the thin walled sockets for lug nuts. It kinda just depends on how many sizes you need and the money you want to spend. Harbor Freight has some sets that are cheaper but might not have all the sizes or be thin enough for some rims. Then you can step up to Sunex, Matco, Mac Tools or Snap On for higher end sets with all the sizes of thin wall lug sockets. Most of those come with plastic protectors for fancy rims too.

Often places like Northern Tool and even Menards have lug nut socket sets with 3-6 sockets that cover most of the common sizes.

GM is pretty standard with 3/4 for cars and 7/8's for trucks.

I worked for Sears and sockets aren't the issue.  All tools are cheap chinesium anymore, so...
