My good deed for the day.....

So I get off work last night, pull into Sonic on the way home. There's this woman in a 3/4t Ford conversion van having *issues* keeping it running. She'd start it, drop it gear and it'd stall.

After about three attempts, she gets it running, and.....ready for this ?!!? Floors the throttle for like 15 seconds  !!!!!!!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm like, whoa !!! It stalls, she does it again- WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy crap, I'm waiting for the bottom to drop out of this poor vehicle. (btw, the girl had to come out to take my order over the noise...).

She does it a third time and that's all I could stand. I don't care if it is a furd, I can't watch any machine suffer like that....

So I get out and walk over. The smell of the engine is not good. I start trying to explain the two-foot technique to her, and it takes like five minutes to get her to NOT floor it, calm down.... Okay, now, very gently apply throttle but WITHOUT making the engine scream.... keep your foot on the brake, put it in gear.

She finally gets it and drives off almost 10 minutes later :D .....

She had a baby in a car seat in back with Grandma (I assume) and a young girl sitting shotgun. The three of them (yup, baby too !!) are so BUG-EYED over the whole experience, it took all I had to maintain a semi-professional-composure (still in my hospital uniform).

Gawd, I heard that poor engine screaming in my dreams :D:thumbs: .....

Anyway.... pretty dang funny, really  !!!

It would have almost been funny to just let her have-at-it and watch her grenade it  !!!!

I'm still amazed the thing didn't blow when I think about it. I didn't think a V-8 could rev that high that long with no load without self-destructing..... Gawd, what a horrible sound.

Funny stuff...

furds

You guys should see the '92 Club Wagon a family friend had. 100% work vehicle. Oil changes every 15K or so (not synthetic). Holy crap it was loud. You could probably hear it from a mile away with all the lifter chatter. The engine was not maintained in any shape or form and it sounded like it. There is no reason this van should have even been running. Somehow it did. The trans was probably next to dry and the trans would shift rough as hell. That van made more noise than any diesel.

Most importantly, did you get your Sonic?

I love that place...we've got 5 in Ohio according to their site, but each is about a 4hr drive away from me, so I usually only get it when I'm out of town at my bro's in Vegas or on a roadtrip elsewhere.
