Not so good day truck got messed up

Well today i had a job interview.  Lady gave me wrong directions and i was 20 min late (they didnt care she knew she gave me wrong directions when i came in late she felt bad).

 

Then it was downpouring going home.  Drove down I57 in illinois through construction.

 

Get home noticed my wheels (rims) are an orangish brown color.  Thought it was brake dust.  PITA to remove but got it all off then i noticed both sides of my truck had this sticky substance on it.  I was like WTF.  My truck was covered in tar.  Couldnt really tell other than the finish being dull and when you touched it it was sticky.  Went to the bodyshop who fixed my truck a few months ago.  Guy suggested this dupont stuff (like mineral spirits).  He said itll take off the tar and any wax you have on (there goes the 3 coats of zaino).  Tried a little and it is coming off (SLOWLY)

Oh yea i did pick up a tree with my truck they loaded it with a forklift (boy was my heart racing)

Now you know what I felt like when I had the polluted, baked on mud all over mine. Oh yeah, I didn't want to use Dish soap, but when I was srapying it down at the high pressure wash it smelled like lemon Pine-Sol. I knew what it was, by the time I was done risning, The water wouldn't bead at all. It may have helped get the mud off though! I'm never going to that do-it-yourself again! Hope it works out!

Stuff is called PREP-SOL by dupont

 

Great stuff.  Itll take tar, wax, and paint (road paint) off your vehicle

 

Tomorow after work depending on rain itll get a wash and 1 coat of Z5

Bummer Ryan-don't worry it won't do any permanent damamge and you can actually cause more harm removing it that the tar itself causes.  I have a similar thing happen every now and then.  Where I live there are alot of limestone quarries and coal operations which use heavy dumptrucks to move material.  These things sling grease like crazy and I've gotten stuck behind them and had grease splattered all over my vehicles.  I know they're a necessary part of our local economy but dang I hate driving around them.

 

Anyway I usually end up cleaning the grease of with Windex!   .  Although it strips the wax right off it also removes axle grease pretty well too.  Just have to re-wax the affected area.

Bummer.  At least it wasn't permanent damage.  Just give you an excuse to work on the truck again.

I'll probably get yelled at for this (I'm not mentioning the truck)...........but here it goes.  How did the job interview go?

good have a 50/50 chance but i am not going to accept it.  To far of a drive (30 miles and it took over an hr to get home).  Id rather not work 6am to 7pm mon - friday with 3 hrs spent on the road driving in traffic.  

 

I hopefully will have another inerview for an internship at a place not to far from me and i wil jump on this one if given the chance.

If nothing else, hopefully you can learn something from the interview.  I'm always finding better ways of making my point w/o sounding stupid.

What a PITA.  I am still cleaning off tar today.  it is in ever crevis you can think of.  Around the small lights on my rear bumper, under the bumper, license plate, front plate, windows

 

My rims are being zainoed as we speak.

Ryan I've had tar on the sides of the truck before and my dad had his car covered with tree sap.  He tried to use a little towel to see how bad it was and he expected to have to get some remover to get it off.  Took his car home and it washed right off with the Z7 car wash, same as the tar on my truck.  Next time it happens get out the Z7 and wash off the truck with it first, you'd be amazed how much it will get off, still might have to use remover on some of it though, sounds like you got hosed by the stuff.  Good luck
