Has it been common to have a clunky noisy backend? Sounds like a loose sloppy brake drum, third member or a spare tire swinging around. Sometimes think the blinking wheel is gonna fall off, as if loose lug nuts. Really gets your attention at times, idle, slow speeds, backing while turning. Cant seem to make it happen, some what random. Have some Drive line, U-JOINT slap on down shifts common also.

Noise started around 6000 mile. Seems to be progressing with time, now 24600.

Grease your leaf springs jack it up from the hitch get some grease from auto zone made for suspension. Insert a pry bar between the leafs and grease them. Grease the pads on both ends the springs are shifting and causing the clunk. Sand and dirt get caught between them. I do this every couple months when I hear a clunk mostly around a turn or backing into my driveway.

I also had the drive line u joint clunking I fixed that by adding traction bars. It stopped the axle from flexing. I have a 18 with the 8 speed trans. So the trans is kinda Klunky. When the axle starts to flex under load then it would shift or hesitate it slams back down causing the clunk.

I agree its the leaf springs making the noise, mine did the same thing. Jack the truck up by the frame so the rear will hang and keep tension on the leafs minimal. Get a pry bar and pry the springs apart and you'll see a plastic pad, clean it off and put a piece of rubber in there then pop your pry bar back out. Do this on all 4 pads and you won't hear the noise again.

You have plenty of warranty remaining.  I know they may not be able to replicate the clunk upon first inspection but they will have your concern on record. Be persistent.  Personally, I'd avoid DIY repairs on such a new vehicle and enjoy the advantages of having a bumper to bumper / powertrain warranty.

Agreed. My 2014 had squeaky springs at a few months old, I had power washed & sprayed lube in the springs & it would go away briefly. Took it in to dealer, they did the clean & lube, lasted a few days. Took it back & they installed new springs under warranty, that cured it for a couple of years. Now out of warranty.
