Hey Guys I recently bought a 2001 Silverado with a 5.3 vortec swap. The truck originally came with the v6 and the previous owner did a 5.3 vortec swap. The truck has a code p0178, flexible fuel sensor circuit low input. My truck did not have flex fuel originally. Any help with solutions to get rid of the code to clear the check engine light so I can get it inspected. Can I go to a shop and have them disable the circuit so that it clears the lights, or do i need to install the sensor  and have someone tune it for me? thank you in advance.

I do not believe GM produced any flex fuel Silverados in 2001.  Double check the VIN to verify the model year.

Yes thats why i have this problem, my truck did not come with flex fuel, but the 5.3 that they transplanted I guess did and now i have the code because my fuel system doesnt have it.

My guess is that the computer is from a 5.3 truck that did have flex fuel, like a 2002 tahoe/Suburban or maybe even a silverado.

The engine itself doesn't matter, it's the calibration put into the computer that does matter.
