I do ALOT of reading but not much posting on here because I normally find my answer and dont need to ? But this time i cant find anything. I have a 2018 Silverado  LT1500 Z71. I am looking for (if possible a picture) the identification of each of the pins in the body side (not the seat side) of the wire harness for the driver and passenger seats. I currently have 6 way heated with lumbar drivers seat and power passenger seat. To explain why, I will say this....I love everything about this truck EXCEPT for one thing, the seats are the most uncomfortable I ha e ever sat in, no matter how I adjust them I just cant get  comfortable, so I am looking into swapping them out. Now some of you might hate me for this LOL but I work for Chrysler on the assembly line at the Ram plant ( Yes I work for chrysler and drive a CHEVY, but hey i dont have to like where I work as long as it pays the bills lol ) and the seats in the Rams are waaaay more comfortable so I am wanting to swap the seats out but I know this has the potential to be a wiring nightmare. So i am starting my research with identifying all the pins on the body side of my chevy and then going to do the same for the Ram seats when/if I buy them, and then attempt to wire a new harness connector to my bodyside to match up with the one on the new seats. I hope I explained what i am looking for and didnt ramble on to much, and THANK YOU ahead of time if anyone can supply me this information!

I would disassemble the seats and swap the foam over into your truck. Less to deal with like airbags, modules, wiring etc. I am certain the ram wouldn’t be a direct bolt on anyways. Your could probably even use your leather so it matches the rear.

@pgamboa would be a good source of information. He will probably have all the upfitter information for you already. He makes harnesses for the power seats and center console upgrade so has probably seen or knows the entire schematics by heart. ?

And yes you are right, the new Ram seats are the most comfortable seats I've sat in in a long time. Hell, the leather seats in my 2012 Charger were more comfortable then these in my Chevy. I also work for FCA and drive a Chevy so you are not the only one. Had a sweet deal on a trade-in for a 2020 Laramie all blacked out but even then I still kept my Chevy. There's something about my 2017 that I'm just hooked on. Probably keeping this truck for 5-6 more years until I turn 40 and my gift to myself is going to be a 2500 fully loaded Ram. There are rumors that there are talks about getting Allison transmissions to replace the current Aisin transmissions. Give me a Cummins and an Allison together and I'm switching. Might be a pipe dream at this point but a dream is still a dream. And the next refresh could change my mind too like Chevy's did. I think the T1's are god awful ugly otherwise a Duramax would be an option.

xSHIFTxNASTYx, yes the experience that pgamboa sounds like he has is exactly what I am needing, and even better if i could just have the harness I am looking for made! As I stated earlier I dont post very much so im not sure how to go about contacting him? Or will he be notified after being tagged in this topic?

Thank you!!

I'm here and actually subscribed to this post since I figured I would have been tagged :)

A few things about this.  The method of gaining power on the RAM seats all depend on those seats themselves.  Since I have no knowledge on that side, I don't know (or feel comfortable) that I could build a harness that could make the connection from the floor connector to your new seat connector.  In addition, there are other variables to consider outside of power requirements - Airbags, seat position sensor, seat belt buckle, seat belt pre-tensioners, etc. etc.

On the factory truck seats, the main requirements to get power (whether its 6, 8, or 10 way seats) is by landing power and ground to the connector.  If you unplug your seat connector, these are the larger pins on each corner.  The largest pin is the ground, the 2nd largest pin is the power.  By getting power to this, the seat should move.  I would expect this to be the same in the RAM seat, but that's an assumption.

Once you get power, then there will be the SRS - airbags, seat belts, etc.

You can get the GMUpfitter directly from GMUpfitter.  The floor connectors are labeled as X310 and X320.

If you are able to identify the RAM seat power requirements, that might help.

pgamboa, thank you for the quick response! Couple questions if I may....about where the ram seats gain power, do you mean that it could be from a floor harness as well but also could possibly be from some other source/location? If so, maybe i could find that out from electricians at work. Also (bare with me here, i could wire a house no problem, but auto electric confuses the hell out of me lol) as for the other variables (airbags, belt buckle position sensor etc...) each of those are going to be controlled/powered by one of the other pins in the supply harness other than the power/ground? If thats the case could i not (though not recommended im sure) for example omit the supply pin to the seat airbag and therefore not have to be concerned with the danger of it going off from improper connection?  Is there a simple answer to what the purpose of the "seat position sensor" and "seat belt pre tensioner" are or what they do or dont do if not powered?

Thank you for your time!!

So on the RAM seats, I suspect that the seat itself will need a main power branch circuit to power the motors.  That power comes from "somewhere".  In our trucks, that main power line comes from the forward fuse panels.  So if both your factory seats are powered now, then those power circuits are there, at the floor connection.  You would essentially splice/tap that to your new seat connector, wherever that power/ground is on the seat connector.

In theory, that should take care of the power adjust movement of the seat.  Again, just an assumption here.

As for the other items related to SRS (Safety Restraint System), there are a # of things our trucks will look for and validate if present or missing.  So if the seat belt buckle connector is not plugged in, seat position sensor not connected, or anything else related to the airbag SRS, the airbag light will come on, and will disable the entire system.  No big deal, but in the event of a crash, nothing will deploy.  The seat position sensor is magnetic sensor that determines the position of the seat and sends that info to the computer.  This tells the SRS if the seat is all the way forward, to deploy the airbag Stage 1 vs Stage 2 (where the seat would be all the way rearward).  You wouldn't want a Stage 2 deployment if your seat is all the way forward.
