Wrench83 Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 Looking if anyone has had a similar problem or if there are any bulletins. 2015 Silverado 1500/5.3L with 66k miles. On acceleration I'm getting a noise that sounds like spark knock. It's not extremely loud but it's noticeable in the cabin. Does NOT make the noise revving the engine with the trans in neutral. Does it in all gears and increases with engine RPM. Does not get better or worse as the engine warms. Anyone had a similar experience and if so what was the cause? Thanks for any help.
CamGTP Posted November 27, 2020 Posted November 27, 2020 (edited) Not really easy to guess that this one without having the vehicle in front of me. Could be valvetrain related, spark knock, high pressure fuel pump or even something else. If you think it's spark knock go fill up with 93 octane fuel or whatever is highest in your area. Or grab a live data scan tool and watch the spark knock/re-tard channel to see if it reports anything. Edited November 27, 2020 by CamGTP
