I just bought an 01 chevy 2500HD 6.0 4X4. On the drive home it blew oil cooler line and lost all the oil. After fixing line and adding oil. It will crank but has a knock. Ive found another motor. Its a 06 model. Will I be able to swap them pretty easily?  And im thinking about going back with headers. Uncertain on short r long ones. Will I need computer with other motor?

Just swap the long block and it will be just fine.

You need to use your intake manifold, fuel rail with injectors, throttle body and probably the valve covers because of the PCV system. Basically swap the top end from your engine and put it on the 2006 engine.

Short tube headers are a waste of money. Either do long tubes or nothing. You'll need a tune if you remove the cats.
