From Gold to Black

My white 2020 Double Cab Custom came with gold bowties on the grille, steering wheel and wheel hub centers. So, of course, I changed them to black. I ordered the wheel centers and grille bowtie from Dallas GM Parts. For the steering wheel, I grabbed a vinyl decal from Amazon. In order to change the grille emblem it was necessary to remove the cover between the radiator core support and front of the engine compartment by undoing the plastic fasteners that held the cover on. You will also need to remove the hood latch lever extension using a Torx bit. Just don't forget to replace the lever extension before you close the hood. (Don't ask me how I know.) The next step is to undo the plastic "ears" on the gold bowtie with a long screw driver. In order to do this I wedged the screw driver tip against each ear and tapped. Note that the protrusions in the center of the grille bowtie are only locaters with no fasteners needed. I didn't feel like pulling the wheels to change the wheel hub centers so I drilled a hole in each one and yanked them out using an angled pick. The new centers were only 14 bucks so the old ones were no great loss. My steady handed wife applied the vinyl decal to the steering wheel.

Funny, I have the black bowtie on the grill and black bowtie centercaps on the wheels. I've been looking high and low for gold ones because I hate the black ones, I would have traded you.
