If you look on the side of your headlight module you will see a big empty square spot (normal led) or you'll see a silver something bolted to that spot.  It looks like a normal HID ballast.  Huge difference at night.

There is legit 3 tiers of headlights on T1 trucks.  This is not a joke.  Straight from the order guide:

They aren't an HID LED, they are just a higher intensity LED lamp.  They are both of the LED reflector design, just the LTZ/High Country and Midnight LT TB get a better version.

Was just arguing the semantics really.  No such thing as HID LED :)

Wonder if the unit shown above is the LED driver? I have the midnight package so need to head out to my truck later and look

Don't know if it's the driver or not.  I've seen it listed as LED Headlight Module Ballast Control Unit.  Never heard of an LED needing a ballast.  Very similar part for the HD with high intensity LED lights.

Those part numbers come back to a Ford Edge for every listing except for that one.

Appears that is what I have here though.  HAS to be the driver for the 3 LEDs and however many go into the DRL

Side note... I was questioning why it would be such a large driver with ~24 pins when I originally posted.  After a few cervezas and making a post about pulse width modulating some of our lights, I realized why.

The DRLs and lowbeams/headlights are likely run off of this (way too cold and dark to check).  In addition, the DRLs are PWM so the circuitry involved is likely large and they need to contend with heat, in an engine bay, for the life of the vehicle.  I'd bet the farm this is a SET of drivers for the headlights, turn signals, and DRLs

This now has me wondering if the Midnight Edition TBs have LED turn signals?

It has been a couple of months but it looked like the same headlight setup as the High country. I'm going to try and look it all up
