railguy777 Posted February 10, 2021 Posted February 10, 2021 I have a 2020 SLT with a block heater. There is no thermostat in the cord. It must be in the block heater itself. I checked the cord with and ohmmeter and it always conducts. Plugged my heater in when it was -15 C and no current draw. The other day it was -21 C and the current draw was 3.5 amps. So the thermostat must be set somewhere around -20 C.
Tulkas Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 Just a cord hack I want to pass along. I am the kind of person that would forget to remove the cord and drive away with it in. I went to amazon and got two key chains that have a red cloth tag that says "Remove before flight" in big letters. I put one on the cord and have another with a large carabiner on it. When I plug the truck in I put the tag with the carabiner on the steering wheel to remind me the cord is in. Just passing this along.
Dirtbiker Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 My wife has done this twice now. Now i actually wrap the cord around the driver side mirror and lay it on the hood before connecting it. This way it can’t be missed before getting in and driving away. I do like the tag idea though!
DavidTruck Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 My 2021 Suburban, I'm scratching my head as to why I have to get down on my hands-and-knees, sometimes with a flashlight, just to plug this stupid cord into the bumper. Is there a work-around, other than attaching some 3rd party contraption to the grille?
