I have to believe there are already a bunch of threads on this, but my searches didn't turn up much. While I like the ease of a plugin solution like the Carbyte, It appears it disables the AFM or DFM too, and is not configurable to only disable the auto stop/start. So, I'm looking at the Autostop Eliminator product. I like the idea of it better, but I'm concerned about the install and having to pull so many panels to get it installed. Mines a work truck, so from what I've read it's a less involved install, but having watched a couple install vid's, I'm still a little intimidated. Might need to buy some trim tools too to get it done without breaking or marring stuff. Any experience intalling in a WT greatly appreciated. -

I admit, I'm a bit frosty that a major chunk of functionality died at right about 30,000 miles and just past the warranty date. Dealer estimated ~ $800 to $1000 for a new telematics unit and programming. If it were a pure safety issue then yes, I think it should be a recall. Our Ford Expedition has a recall on the backup camera since it is deemed as safety related, and I think that's a stretch given there's a perfectly functional rearview mirror. The telematics unit would be an even bigger stretch so no, I am not hanging my hat on a recall. Here on this forum I wanted to know if this was a widespread issue and how people are dealing with it. I couldn't find much direct evidence, so I asked. FWIW this morning I found quite a few telematics failure threads in the GM OnStar community. Seems like replacement telematics units aren't always available and that people are having issues getting them properly programmed. -
That’s true I'm being sympathetic to any area that hasn’t been corrupted by bad policies that lead to high gas prices. And crime. Among other things you seem to relish. -
