Range Technology AFM Disabler for eAssist Trucks

Ok.  I tried to figure out whether not the range afm disabler was compatible with the eassist (mild hybrid) trucks.  I have a 2018 4x4 LT with the 8spd transmission.  I reached out to range and they told me it doesn't work (conflicting with some info on their site).   Well, I was seeing conflicting reports online and decided I would try it anyway.

 

Good news everyone.  It works!  It keeps the truck in V8 mode and disable the auto stop/start at red lights too.

 

The truck is soooooo much better now.   Previously there truck was always hesitant and constant little bumps/jerks from switching cylinders or auto stop.

 

Now it drives like a normal truck.   Just installed yesterday...not sure about mpg impact and frankly I don't care...it doesn't seem huge and the truck drives so much better.

 

For anyone else on the fence for your eassist truck...go for it.

I just got the Range AFM disabler for my 1500 LTZ. Haven't tried it out yet but I'm sure I will be happy always being in 8Cyl mode! Glad it worked for your application. I feel the only reason why these vehicles come with the AFM etc. is due to the ever increasing requirements for fuel efficiency by the EPA.

Been running it for 2 years on my eAssist and it works great. For some reason, the first one I had made the truck shift really hard even after the update. The second one does just fine.
