I lost this feature when it had around 800kms. I just did a very long 1,700 km drive to Hermosillo from Tijuana.

When I arrived in Hermosillo after an 870km drive (570 miles), the auto stop feature never kicked in. I arrived at night so the A/C was off.

 

Just got back in Tijuana and my truck surprised me for the first time with a green circled A and I didn't have A/C on at that time either because it was 7 a.m.

The past 5,000 kms were all city miles, few highways, I guess it just had to catch up with highway miles to make it work?

Auto stop didn't work with the A/C in other settings than Max?

When I first got it, I noticed it was less likely to kick in whenever the A/C was on, but I never used the Max in my A/C. I had to go out and look for it, didn't even know I had that, but I know I never used it.

I never had the need to defog my window so it's always off. It was only just now when I noticed the auto-start kicking in.

I always make sure everything is off so I know I never accidentally turned it on or anything like that. The auto-stop never kicked in over the past two years, I even thought it probably didn't come with that feature after the update.

Don't know if any of these apply, but lots of things can prevent auto stop/start.

 

 

Auto Stops may not occur and/or Auto Starts may occur because:

 

. The climate control settings require the engine to be running to cool or heat the vehicle interior.
. The vehicle battery charge is low.
. The vehicle battery has recently been disconnected.
. Minimum vehicle speed has not been reached since the last Auto Stop.
. The accelerator pedal is pressed.
. The engine or transmission is not at the required operating temperature.
. The outside temperature is not in the required operating range.
. The vehicle is in any gear other than D (Drive).
. Tow/Haul Mode or other driver modes have been selected.
. The vehicle is on a steep hill or grade.
. The driver door has been opened or the driver seat belt has been unbuckled.
. The hood has been opened. 

. The Auto Stop has reached the maximum allowed time.

I can assure you none of that applies. It never kicked in since I had it when it was pretty new until just now. This is why it surprised me. I've taken long drives. The climate in Dana Point is always nice and cool, not hot or cold. I don't disconnect batteries. I don't keep my foot on the gas. I always put it in "D" when I am driving. No steep hills during my drives to L.A.

I'm going to guess based on your location that your A/C was cranking in the heat and until you reached the thermostat auto level (or if it was just set on some fan setting) that your engine was needed to keep the air coming and auto-stop wouldn't kick in.

It's cold here in Dana Point, I don't even think it ever went above 73 in the past three weeks even in the daytime. Initially, it didn't kick in whenever I had the A/C on, but then it never kicked in, with or without the A/C running, summer, winter, cold start, hot start, 50-mile drives to Los Angeles, it never kicked in. Then it suddenly kicked in after a long 500-mile drive back to Tijuana.

And I never use the thermostat at the auto-level, I always have it either LO or off, usually with A/C off. I had it off driving towards Hermosillo because it wasn't that warm at nighttime and I was trying to maximize my gas mileage, did not want to stop anywhere between Tijuana and Hermosillo. Oddly, it never kicked in after stopping in Hermosillo.

I have the same thing going on.

since about a month after I purchased my truck in Aug 2020, Auto-stop has never engaged again. It has been 10 months since an auto-stop incident.

 

I hope GM didn't catch on to something and start pushing out updates to make it work again.

I think it was just the really long drive that did it because I usually keep it parked for weeks and weeks at times. Sometimes I don't drive it for a month. But it doesn't seem to be having issues with the battery, not that I can see. It didn't kick in after the long 500-mile drive to Hermosillo.. only on the way back to Tijuana.. and it didn't even kick in until about an hour in Tijuana (despite the stop and go traffic). It doesn't bother me but caught me off guard. I totally forgot about this.

I did get an update pushed the other week...

 

PS running on LO is going to crank your AC, so again I'm guessing your AC was needing the engine on. idk...

Not when it's 68 here in Dana Point, it hasn't gone above 75 the past month. For the most part, I keep the A/C off because I don't even need it.

Okay, just did a 30-mile drive with the A/C off the whole time (no fan at all) since it was cold here in the morning. It never kicked in after I got off the freeway and came up to a stop light, hit the brakes then pressed it harder. Nope. I never saw the green circle with "A" in it again. I don't think it's coming back.

      Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.

      Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.

      I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
