2007 GMC Sierra Glove Box Door

The latch broke on my glove box door so I ordered a new door. I attempted to remove the old door to install the new one. I removed the 3 hinge screws at the bottom of the old box and encountered 2 tethered bolts still holding the old box hinge to a plastic strip and is part of the paneling. I need advice on how I can remove these two hinge bolt attachments without damaging the plastic strip they are tethered to in order to completely detach the old box and install the new one.

I could be way off on this but the first thing that comes to mind for me is drill them out......possibly??  I think I would check with a body shop before I did that.  If that in fact turns out to be the answer it should drill out pretty easy.  You could use a dremel tool drill bit too; thats an option.  Body shop consultation sounds best to me though.

are you talking about the 2 rivets?  If so just drill them out with any old drill, using a 1/4 drill bit until the head is gone and only the shaft is what you see.  Then take a punch and hammer and tap them till they push through.

Those aren't bolts...they're rivets.  Like sharpz said, you'll have to drill them out (shouldn't be too bad; they're probably soft steel or aluminum)

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I used a 1/4 drill bit and removing the rivets took less than a minute. New box has now been installed.
