I have 2004 Silverado 2500 HD. A couple of time the transmission has heated up to 200 plus degrees under no load except for pulling a hill. Any suggestion? It only has 174,562 miles on it.

Seeing 200 degrees isn't that bad because the fluid can more than handle it. If you are pushing 230+ then you got some problems.

175,000 miles is still plenty though, you could have worn clutches inside the transmission and it could be slipping the torque converter more than usual, which would lead to higher fluid temps.

The 4L80e is a tough transmission but it can still have failure points that require a rebuild. You'd need to probably tear the transmission down to see if anything is abnormal. Because right now all we can do is guess at the issue as well at start throwing money at it to maybe bandaid an issue.
