TRKLGND !.... Totally understand your point. I did have the trailer before the truck, do also understand that I am on the wire yet I have a issue spending a pile extra money on a large truck to sometimes pull a trailer and most of it's life getting groceries.

As I explained in the beginning, I know my stuff, run the truck to it's engineered capacity which initially pulled the trailer legally and gives me best fuel mileage.

Your concern about legality is questionable.  The letter clearly states you didn't receive a new label, like you indicated in your first post.  The letter said if you wanted a new label you could go get one from your dealer.  As it sits right now, the sticker on your truck still says 9300/930.  An inspector/cop will look at that, see the numbers on your trailer, and say you're good to go.  It's not what you know, but what they can prove.  If you kept that letter in your glove box they'd still have no way of knowing the change in the numbers because they won't have a warrant to search your truck.  To get a warrant they need to list what they are looking for, and where.  How would they know about the letter?  From where I sit, you aren't worried about legality.  You're worried about your integrity.  None of us can help you with that one.
