Sensitive steering on the new body Silverado?

I’ve owned a 2020 RST. Had it in the shop 3 times for a uncomfortable pull to the left and right. I spent most of my time steering the truck left, then right, just to keep it center of lane.

 

I finally traded it in for a 2021 trailboss, hoping the rim and tire difference would fix the issue, but it didn’t.

 

I'm beginning to think it’s the steering assist, but the mechanics that have looked into it tell me that “chevy’s drive this way” and it’s “because the truck is wider, and it doesn’t sit in grooves”

 

Now I’ve got 1 million miles behind the wheel of a semi. I know what grooves feel like, I know what wind feels like, I know what bad wheel bearings, and bad alignments feel like. It’s none of those things.

 

Is anyone else experiencing this, or has anyone found a fix?

When you say "steering assist", are you referring to the lane keeping feature?  If so, have you tried turning it off?  I hated it on my Suburban.  To me, it sounds like you're just adjusting to rack and pinion steering which is a lot more responsive than the old style reciprocating ball/steering box style.

So I sold my 2017 f150 for a 2020 RST Silverado. I had that RST in the shop 4 times for the steering issue. It wasn’t a more responsive feel. Slight movements of the steering wheel would snap the truck to the left, or right, but wouldn’t center. I traded that RST in for a 2021 Trailboss, and the trailboss is having the same issue.

Have tried running in sport mode? It is supposed to give your steering a firmer feel.

I have yes. The off-road mode is the most responsive steering from my experience, and the steering I like the most, but I trade all of my acceleration for it. I don’t like sport because it makes the truck jerky, and it’s terrible in wet conditions.

 

I honestly feel like I shouldn’t have to put my truck in a mode every time I turn it on for decent handling.

I think the steering is perfect in normal mode. It tracks straight. Nothing to complain about. 20,000 in last 6 months. Nothing I would change. It's a 2021 crew cab lt 4x4 standard bed.

I can’t say the same. Drove it around 600 miles this weekend, and it was a chore. Turn the wheel slightly to the left, truck pulls to the left, turn the wheel to compensate, truck pulls to the right. There is no straight, and if it’s windy, you’re compensating for the entire drive. It’s really annoying.
