Brackets & straps on back of rear seats?

Took delivery of my truck today and going through everything. What are these things on the rear seat for? Child seats? (can you tell I don't have kids yet?)

I don't need the snarky attitude. I did quickly look at owners manual and there was nothing about them under the rear set section because I thought at first they might be for securing the seats upright or some other type of tie down point (which I guess they are essentially are). I had a lot of other things to do so figured I would ask here, because you know, that's what we do on forums, well other than give snarky answers to complete strangers. 

 

Anyway, last night I did some more reading and discovered they are part of the LATCH system for securing child seats. Never seen this system in any recent vehicles we've owned, they all had ISOFIX.

Yes those are car seat anchors. Along the top and in between the seat back and bottom cushion.

LATCH has been mandatory in the US for nearly 20 years, so your Tahoe had it. (It's on page 1-65 of the '09 Tahoe owner's manual, if you're curious.)

Well my Toyota and MB's all had/have ISOFIX since they are international. I never noticed the rear tethers on the Tahoe (completely different position and implementation than on the Sierra), only the lower seat ones. Never knew the system had a name, I generally skipped over the child restraint sections since I don't have kids. Thanks for the education.
