I've not found a use for it except maybe using it to update the radio firmware. Honestly not sure why it's even an option since updates are extremely rare and you can normally do them utilizing a USB flash drive.

It is easy to do, select settings from the Home Screen, system, then wifi networks. Good for any updates if you do not have the wifi hotspot data plan.

Also might depend on the data plan on your phone.

Phone could also be used to provide a hotspot to the truck -- just as phone can be used to provide a hotspot to a computer.
