Hi,

So I have a 2015 Silverado 1500. Recently had a key fob get lost and have a replacement but need to program it. I can't seem to get into programming it with my Modis Edge scan tool and really don't feel like dealing with the dealer just to redo the fobs. Has anyone come up with a way to program these fobs without going to the dealer? I know my Modis could do the fobs on my friends 17 so wasn't sure why I can't get to it on mine.

Thank you

Edit to add:  I have seen Dorman sells something that plugs into the OBD port and comes with a fob but haven't been able to find the tool separately.

I've programmed a new fob through the Autosync device, found here:
(it ain't cheap - plus they're back ordered, currently. If all you'll ever need is a key fob programmed, just go to the dealer)

I looked at that when I did the android auto upgrade and cluster from WAMS. Looks like some really neat features but nothing I need for that price. Especially just to do a fob.  Thanks for your response.  I'm hoping it's something simple I can jump a couple pins in the OBD port to activate or something similar.

I'm not sure if that's doable.
I think you'll need to unlock the BCM to get it done  - as the dealer would do or the Autosync would.
And that is where the Autosync becomes extra money - ya gotta pay extra to unlock the BCM and HMI.
Same as the FlashPaq F5 for the ECU.
In my experience, it's all been worth it.
But, then, I like to play around with modding things to make my truck a little different than others.
Most won't notice except me.
You're best off visiting a dealer for a FOB program if you're not interested in the ability to further mod your truck with the aforementioned devices..

I somehow lost my key and key fob for my 2014. I had a spare key however. I bought a blank key online and new fob and took them to a locksmith. He cut me a new key and programmed the key and fob to my truck. I think I had about $75.00 in the locksmith and the cost of the blank key which wasn't much. Hope this helps someone. Dealers are expensive!
