Finally got around to changing out the transmission thermostat to the new one GM is offering.  I want to say it is a 158°F.  I didn't like that the fluid ran at 200° all the time.  So now it should run cooler.  While in the mountains this past spring, it got up to 220°F.  I didn't like that.  So when we go back this coming spring it will be interesting to see how much it  has lowered it.  822367759_Suburbantransthermostat.thumb.jpg.1a0db418798091411859e940f5f3de77.jpg

Well so far the transmission has not gotten over 150°F and had it out on a 30 mile run at 78° outside temp.  This was some highway and mostly city traffic.  I'm happy with it.

86774933 is the GM part number, list price is $103 but I'm sure you can get it for less at a dealer or online.

The new tstat is stamped 135 vs the original 180 FYI

That I believe is the initial opening temperature.  There is another 5 or 6 page mega thread about this.  I want to say 156 degrees is the fully opened temperature.  I may be wrong.

That's correct, crack open temps are the ones typically referenced. And I do recall something mid 150s on the full open within the GM TB.

I started the other thread I regards to TB 21-NA-199.
