So I ahve a 2015 GMC Sierra SLT that I did the carplay upgrade to. Everything was working just fine as it should until I upgraded phones. I went from an iPhone XR to a 13 and now the music skip/next track controls on the steering wheel don't work. I have checked all carplay settings and nothing seems changed or different. Does anyone know if the latest IOS update may have caused this or is it a hardware issue? The crazy thing is, when I disconnect carplay and just use Bluetooth, everything works fine, as it should. When I drive my wifes car, 2020 Explorer, all controls work properly when connected to carplay in it.

Any help in figuring this issue out or if anyone has experienced this would be appreciated.

I have the exact same problem, recently upgraded from iPhone 11 to iPhone 14 Pro. The iPhone 11 running ios 16.5 has no problems with the steering wheel controls, bluetooth or with carplay. However, when my iPhone 14 Pro is connected I cannot use the left steering wheel control to skip tracks, nor will my gauge cluster display song information. I can switch back to the iPhone 11 and everything works as it should, but new 14 with the same ios 16.5 has trouble. Anyone else experiencing this?

I dont get it.  The old ‘ Action unavailable while indexing’  has been going on since like 2019 or something!!  They havent figured out how to remedy this yet???  My 2021 silverado has done this from the get go.  My theory is it cant handle the size of your music library in your phone/ipod.  It never does finish indexing.  If they wanted to fix it,  they would have done it by now, theres these guys called ‘ programmers’ who fix stuff like this every day.  They would have fixed the issue when it first happened,  then released an update and everybody would be happy.  Instead they just keep releasing the same glitch year after year till they finally stop buying their stereos from the same miscreants this build these.  FIX THIS ALREADY!
