noise in headliner

I here a noise like a fan with a bad bearing coming from the onstar mic area of my 2001 tahoe headliner. It has rear air. It does not change when I change the rear fan speed.

I thought the full-sizers had a spot in the headliner with a small fan for the interior temp. sensor. Seen in other forums that this is the case...

yup it's called an aspirator. the small fan pulls air in to measure inside air temp for the auto climate control. common little problem

Yes this aspirator sucks in air for the auto temp control. if you are not under warranty you can pull the headliner down and pull it out and blow all the dust out of it because it will be covered in dust, if this does not fix it you will have to replace it.
