Remote Start in a '04 Silverado

Hey guys,

I searched some on this topic but didnt find a answer to my question. I wanna put a remote start on my '04 but I need one to go on the factory fob. Do they make one and what is needed to bypass the security system? Thanks in advance for the advice. Go easy, I am a newb.

You might what to check the dealership the factory is putting remote starts on the malibues so they might be interchangable or tell you how to bypass the alarm

I will tomorrow sometime. I wonder if I just bought a Viper Remote Start if I could bypass the alarm? Has anybody done it yet on a '04 or '03? What about a wiring diagram? I didnt know if it would matter if I had onstar and XM radio.

My next-door neighbors wife has one on her 04 Trailblazer, and I'll ask him what brand.

I do know that he paid $150 out the door to have it installed for her for X-mas.

**Edit** Oh yeah, it also uses the factory FOB.

Several manufacturers make modules to bypass the security system. Look for VATS 2 or VATS 3 security bypass modules. They are pretty easy to install if you have a basic knoledge of electrical circuits. Not for the timid of heart though. I have installed a couple on my own vehicles and it seems as though the GM trucks are the most PITA to install. I have used Design Tech and Bulldog systems to name a few. The Viper and DEI are the best systems in my opinion. Good Luck.
