I've had the 6.2 in another vehicle before and it's great, but really interested in the ecodiesel. Never driven a diesel before. I drive on a lot of rural one lane highways in texas with high speed limits and sometimes you have very short distances to pass people. With the lower horsepower on the diesel how is passing power? I know you can't floor it and expect it to go like the 6.2, but is the acceleration still pretty good at higher speeds?

That is the one area where the 3.0 doesn't really shine. It tends to fall off a bit at the high end. Not terrible, but if you're looking for anything close to your 6.2 power then you might be a little disappointed. I do pass sometimes on the highways here in MT and do it pretty well but I've had supercharged German sports cars where passing happened almost at will. The 3.0 is nothing like that.

Everywhere else the engine really shines.

Yeah that is kind of what I was afraid of.  I'll be coming from a stinger gt2, its very quick, would probably miss the power. I've had the 6.2 before and it's a great engine, just wish there was a bigger gas tank.

My neighbor has a 2020 rst silverado with the 3.0 duramax.  He loves the truck and is completely satisfied with its performance and fuel economy.  That being said, he test drove 2022 ZR2 silverado with the 6.2 and was shocked at how fast it was. He asked if it was supercharged. The 3.0 diesel is a great engine no doubt, but if your looking for a pretty quick and powerful truck anywhere in the rpm range, get the 6.2.

This is a video of my 6.2 ZR2 racing a 2002 corvette.
