Edit: I'm going to redo this post and put into different segments so I can include the pictures I want with that post to simplify this:

So right after I bought this pickup I went out and ordered a B and W hitch and looked online and thought I ordered all the electrical I needed to put the plug in the bed for the 5th wheel trailer.

So somewhere on the forum I found that I needed the following GM parts.

19420832- 7 way adaptor cover $67.36 (Pictured Below) Also waste of time and really expensive.

84663240- harness $39.91 (I did not get a picture before the install but it looks like 84670050 only in a straight line with connectors on each end and not the Y)

84670050- Harness $69.73. (Pictured Below)

I wished there was pictures of what I was buying before I bought it as 3 of the items I did not need and one was a really expensive piece of plastic. So with that in mind I am going to attach photos for reference for those who wish to install this plug in their new pickup, hopefully it will guide them to what they need and not order extra stuff or the wrong stuff.

Thanks for the pictures, I would have to do this if I get a fifth wheel and just to think it's a $35 option from the factory

So the 35 dollar factory option gives you what is in the first two pictures. The first picture you will notice no plug on the one end to go up in the box and yo attach to a connector of your own choice. You would then have to buy the factory plug which is in the second to last photo or buy that plastic filler in the last picture and use your own round 7 pin. Since GM adds the 4 pin along with the 7 pin its a goof shape opening in the box as has been discussed on numerous threads before.

I'm confused, so you bought the truck without the harness in the bed? Part of the 5th wheel package includes the installed wiring to the bed. It however does not include the camera connections. I had to swap the bumper wiring up to the bed in order to have the camera connect along with the 7 pin. That required 2 after market extensions needed for the camera receptacles. There is also a well written post on this forum about that. As many have found out, the "invisible Trailer" option does not work with 5th wheels. You can cheat it but will not get the true look unless they made a change in the 2023's.

That is where part 19420832 from my last post comes in, and you can use your own supplied 7 pin plug in the box. Keep in mind this piece requires you to drill 4 holes in your bed to mount it and I like to limit the holes I drill personally.

So I ordered part 84670050 not knowing it was already on my pickup.

I chose to remove 84718498 with the non connector ends and throw it up on the work bench. This will be the first picture on this post below. This was one part of the 35 dollar factory option ordered on my pickup.

Of the 3 parts listed in my first post that I found somewhere on this forum that were needed to install the 5th wheel connector plug into the bed,   I  only used used was 84663240 (Sorry I did not get a picture of it before the install but I will show pictures on this post of that harness installed in the pickup) . This plugs into the adaptor harness 84670050 and runs up to the plug in the bed. I then used a Pollak/Hopkins 7pin/4 pin plug I bought off ebay for $43.80. It looks like the factory GM plug that fits in the bed and fills their goofy hole up.

So for my installation I only needed to buy harness 84663240 for $39.91 and the 4/7 way plug for $43.80.

If your pickup was not ordered with the $35.00 trailer wiring provision I am going to guess you also need to order harness 84670050 for $69.73. This part is shown on this post.

I feel that the 7way adaptor cover part number 19420832  was a complete waste of money and really expensive and you still have to source a 7 way plug. The adaptor also requires you to drill 4 holes in the bed to mount it. I'm not a fan of drilling extra holes if they are not needed.

With that said I have a brand new never installed adaptor harness 84670050 (pictured below)  that I can sell someone what I paid for it and I have a used trailer plug that never had the ends off part number 84718498 that I can sell to someone who can use it.

I would encourage anyone looking to complete this install and see what is on their pickup before ordering parts and hopefully these pictures and part numbers will make it easy for the next person looking to complete this install!

So my pickup window sticker  says Trailer Wiring Provision $35.00. It came with the following two parts pictured below.

There was no plug in the bed, there was technically wiring under bed zip tied to the frame that I could have used and then sourced a 7 pin connector and put it in my bed. I did not want to mess with finding pins/sockets, cutting wires and adding them so I just removed it and plugged in harness 84663240 which went directly from the adaptor harness at back of bumper and then ran up to the plug in the bed.

Jeff,

So your zip tied wiring harnes was all you had? No 7/4 way in the bumper then, also?

The picture right above your post that is a Y harness part number 84670050, one end where the wires come sideways into connector plugs into the 4/7 in bumper. One end goes above spare tire so not sure where it ends up and the other end plugs Into the Harness that was zip tied to the frame that I think is intended to wire in your own 5th wheel or camper plug. It just has wires taped on the end that are labeled as to what wire is what.

I chose to use harness part number 84663240 plugged into that Y harness and then plug and play right into the factory 4/7 connector I added in the bed.

So my pickup had the 4/7 in bumper along with those two extra harnesses which I believe is the 35 dollar factory trailer provision.
