2017 LTZ Z71 5.3 - Factory Remote Start Shuts Down & Sets off Alarm

Help!  I've checked the posts and can't find anything that matches my problem.  I have a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ Z71 w/ roughly 45k miles.  It is just over 6 years old (purchased Nov 16) and the remote start worked perfectly for almost that entire time.  Unfortunately, I recently noticed that when I use the remote start the truck starts, then almost immediately shuts down followed by the alarm going off.  I can stop the alarm with the remote.  This happens with both of the factory remotes.  It's really annoying, especially since its now cold out!  Does anyone have any ideas or solutions?  The truck does start just fine-- knock on wood-- when I use my key.

Welcome to the site.

 

Normally you have a CEL if the RS does not work.

 

Just some guesses, original battery to truck? Original batteries in fobs?

I had a problem with my 2018 Silverado last year where the alarm would just go off by itself while it was parked. I ended up replacing the hood latch. Been fine since then. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Bad hood latch.

Hi, it isn't the original battery and there are no check engine lights on.  Interesting about the hood latch, are you saying it needs to be replaced?

Yes. It has electrical connection on it that goes bad.
