Sounds like a light horn beep when I start my truck 1st thing

2005 Chevy Silveradao 1500 WT 4X4 extended cab. 4.8L 209K

I am in the process of restoring her and recently heard what sounds likes a light touch horn beep when I FIRST start it up after sitting through the night. After that I can stop and start with no sound what so ever.

I have to replace the Power Steering cooling unit (leak) but I am wondering if maybe this is a sign that the power steering pump needs attention? Maybe Air in the PS system?

Any help/suggestions would be most welcome.

Thank you.

My 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD has been fitted with new Power Steering Pump, remanufactured /new power steering gear box, new remanufactured hydroboost and new hoses.
The New GM pump is quiet for a few hundred miles then begins to whine and then gets to whinning all the time.
The steering works just great and the brakes work great. it does not whine with pressure on the brake or when turning the wheel. I have been through 4 pumps now in a year to try and get it to quieten up.
The pump never made a noise when the truck was new until i had a mechanic screw with the gear box and i had to replace it.
Could it be a restriction in the fluid cooler?
Does anyone have any experience with this maddening problem?

I have 285,000 miles on my great 2500HD and it is ready to go another round. The power steering is giving me a hard time.
I have replaced the gear, hydroboost, pump and hoses. I have a growlling noise from the power steering pump when i turn or when i brake. I have bled and flushed and used O-Reillies PSF and now replaced with Prestone PSF.
I have actually replaced the gear three times and the pump three times trying to fix this growling. Each time the remanufactured Cardone gear exibits different problems. I bought a gear from another rebuilder and now it works like new. But for the growl.
I am going to try and determine if there may be a blockage in the cooler.
If that doesn't work, i guess i'll replace the pump again. I will use the good rebulder this time if it do.
Does anybody else have and experience with solving this annoying problem?
