WHY A CHEVY?

I have never had anything but dodge and when new truck time came, I couldn't find a dodge club cab cheap enough. So, the more i thought about it I have friends with chevys that have 200, 300k + on them and I test drove one. I just liked it plain and simple.

My family is all over the map as far as brands go...I tried Toyota...and liked them. Tough little buggers, but I have always liked bigger trucks. Chevy is just where I landed.

I had a few older ones, and now it's all I know how to work on...No sense in changing that

My family has always had a chevy somewhere in it, plus my blazer was my first vehicle I ever owned, so I just kept with it. I don't see any need to change

Shortly after I got married, my Father-in-Law gave me his '77 Chevy PU after he bought a new one. At the time, it had 160000 miles on the little 305. I put on another 128000 on it and it was still running pretty good until it finally broke a valve retainer, dropped the valve and put a hole in the piston. I put a new short block in and it's still going down the road today... I'm sold on Chevys now...

I had a couple of Fords before, but now we only have Chevy's in the driveway.

Now the F-i-L keeps asking for his truck back!

I've always been a Ford guy and have had good luck with a Ranger and two F-150's, but my 01 SuperCrew loved the gasoline. I had previously owned a 99 Silverado (I wish I had that truck back now; it would be paid for next month) Anyway, after I got the 01 Supercrew I missed my 5.3's power and mileage. There are a lot of things I simply love about my current truck. I really don't think you can beat the General's V-8's for power and mileage. There are a lot of good vehicles on the market now, but GM builds and sells more full size trucks than anyone; there's a reason why. Simply put no one builds a better truck!

Vroten

I've wanted a full size Chevy since before I could drive. I love the way they look (though the nbs front-clip is still growing on me), I love the power, and in my opinion, you won't find a better riding truck than a Chevy (at least none that I've been in). I've also had several friends and my grandfather who had problem after problem with their Furds. Granted, I know Chevy's have their issues too, but they seem to be less common and less serious ... at least that's been my experience. Honestly, I think it would take more than just getting a *lemon* to drive me away from the General. GM would have to really bend me over on a vehicle before I felt betrayed enough to switch to another maker.

In 1986 I bought a Jimmy. Chose it because I couldn't afford the Bronco II or the Jeep Cherokee (which I really wanted). Best thing that ever happened to me.

Seven years later with only one service issue (air conditioning wnet out) and 165,000 miles it was stolen and totaled. I bought a new Jimmy, didn't even have to think about it.

Four years and 125,000 miles with that one and I developed an oil seal problem between the engine and transmission. They quoted $700 to pull both, fix the seal, and put them back. I bought a new Grand Prix instead.

The GP was great but I wanted my truck back. I bought an Eddie Bauer Explorer for the options. Another fine vehicle. Then I got to ride in a Yukon Denali. Bad move. I GOTTA HAVE A NEW TRUCK!!!!!

Love the Yukon (not a Denali). The ride and comfort is much nicer than the Explorer and somewhat better than the Expedition. The leather is much much nicer than the Ford.

Ford, I think, still has a better options package, but until that is more important to me than comfort and quality, I'll stay with GMC.

My family and myself have always had great luck with Chevrolet trucks, so when it came time for me to get a truck, it was a no brainer.

I have a 295hp gasoline motor that is averaging almost 17mpg in mixed city/highway driving. It's the quietest truck out there (per Car and Drivers test this past month) and it also rides the best.

Reliability and long-term durability are also way up there!

I bought my truck based on past experiences and the reliability of chevrolet trucks. Their sharp looking, ride great, tow anything, and have more power than most in its class. Its an all around excellent truck. Plus I hate Ford.

I've always liked Chevys reliability and their trucks are built well. I bought a 1/2 ton, but the other truck I was considering was a F*rd F350 Powerstroke. These are on opposite ends of the spectrum, but I went w/ the Z71 b/c it fit my needs better.

Most GM cars I have had experience with were VERY Low quality the only ones are the fullsize lesabre/bonneville and the caprice wasn't bad either but I have delt with some junk like my girlfriend's old 91 sunbird, and countless grand ams lol. But GM sure knows how to build a truck because the quality is next to none. even some 88's I've been in are still solid and reliable with ORIGINAL EVERYTHING.

I originally wanted a cheap truck around $5k. It had to be an 88-98 Chevy/GMC 4x4 ext cab with V8. I picked that because they're the only 80's trucks that looked good to me, and even better with an 00 Escalade front clip. After almost a year of shopping around, it was clear (at the time) that I wasn't going to get everything I wanted for that price so I more than doubled my budget and decided to get something newer.

I was liking the looks of the 97-03 F-150, but then that IIHS crash test came out and it looked really awful. On one of my trips to the junkyard, I saw they DO collapse badly in real world crashes. I didn't like the Triton 5.4L anyway and how big a PITA it is to change spark plugs.

I considered the Toyota Tundra since it looks like the safest after the IIHS test, but they seemed too small and I would have to triple my already doubled budget to get one (too new). I liked the looks of the 99-02 GMC better anyway, so that's what I wanted to get. Not the best IIHS rating, but not a death trap like the F-150. Great engine (I love GM engines), easy to work on, etc.

I ended up getting my 99 Chevy Silverado because it fit my budget, had pretty much everything I wanted, was local, and was close enough to the GMC in looks.

I never considered Dodge because I think they're really ugly.

Always had Chevy trucks except one Hiccup when I had to have a Ram. Worst mistake I ever make. Needed tranny and fuel pump before 80,000 miles and had 7 recalls and the mileage of the 318 was 11 in the winter. I am getting 10 now with this truck. The dodge was a 1/2 ton reg cab long box 2wd. It was fun to drive and nice to look at but remember boys, Looks aren't everything
