Our 2022 Sierra 1500 SLT Limited started having the shift to park issue many Acadia models have experienced. It appears a class action suit or recall is in the works for those cars and SUVs, but I’m not seeing anything for Sierras.

After putting the truck into park and turning off the engine, the dash displays the message “shift to park” and the radio & lights stay on.

This issue is well documented for cars and SUV’s with a center console shifter, but I not finding any resources in how to fix the issue with a dash shifter.

Have others experienced this issue? The truck is out of warranty due to mileage, so I’d like to fix this myself if I can.

I had an issue with a 2020 AT4 where when it was put into park, I would get a similar message.  I can't recall exactly what the message said but it basically thought the truck was not in park.  The stealership replaced a part (I do recall they called it some type of module) I believe in the steering column that eliminated the issue.  I sold the truck and gave the new owner the paperwork, so no details.  I'll look though just to be sure.

Edit: my post about it.  Follow the link in there and it talks more about the issue.
