My iPhone 15 Pro Max will not auto connect with the onboard Wi-Fi on my ‘22 GMC Sierra Limited. When I get in I have to manually select the onboard Wi-Fi, apparently the password is stored so it hooks right up. Just won’t do it automatically. Auto connect is turned on.

Wife’s 15 Plus will sometimes hook up automatically but not always. Settings on both phones are the same.

What setting am I missing?

Have you tried to tell your phones to forget your vehicle WiFi network?   Then have them rediscover the vehicle WiFi network and reconnect.

Reboot your radio. Every now and then my radio gets all pissed off for no reason other than from when the radio installs a play store update for the android web view and it will make my phone (galaxy s21 ultra) fail to pair to the radio and it will either work if I forget my phone from the radio and tell my phone to forget the radio and pair back up again or even easier now I just reboot the damn radio and it's done being a PITA.

Keep your truck in park and hold the end call button on your steering wheel for 15-20 seconds until you see the chevy/gmc logo on the screen and then let it power back up. If yours is like mine it will come back online and your phone will pair up like normal once again.

edit: are you referring to the WiFi connection that gets used for android auto/apple carplay or the wifi sharing where you use at&t's crap service for tethering to your truck for internet sharing? My above post is just for android auto/apple carplay connectivity problems between the phone and radio.

Bluetooth works perfectly, even the onboard Wi-Fi when I tell the phone that it is there. Only issue is it is not logging to the onboard Wi-Fi automatically.

I was having the same problem for a while until I updated my phone, hooks up every time now.  It’s an old iPhone 10.

I am currently on iOS 17.2 so should be okay there.

My IPhone doesn’t connect to truck WiFi automatically as well. Have never solved it. I wasn’t sure if CarPlay had something to do with it. Be interested to see if a non paired IPhone would auto connect.

I updated to iOS 15.2.1 and thought we had a fix. First time in the car it auto connected like it should. But since then it has failed to auto connect again.

Open to any additional suggestions.

Update: have tried everything I can think of. Solicited advice from other GM forums and Apple support. Nothing worked. So guess it is something I will just live with.

What's the SSID of the WiFi network of the truck? Have you tried changing it to something basic like "mytruck" or similar?

Have you actively watched the Wi-Fi screen on the phone to see if it's attempting to connect when the network first becomes available in the truck? Are you even aware of -when- the network is first available? Mobile devices will often try to connect, test for internet connectivity, then drop the network if they can't reach basic systems on the Internet.

Have you tried turning off Private MAC Address for that network? How about Limit IP Tracking?

Update: phone is now automatically connecting to the onboard Wi-Fi. Appears that the latest Apple update, 17.4, had something hidden in it that solved my problem.
Thanks to all for the advise/help.

If you have trouble again, try resetting the network settings on the iphone.  Mine did this for a little while and i wouldnt notice it until i had been driving a ways listening to music for awhile from the phone eating up data.  Im honestly not sure if the network settings reset on the phone fixed it or not but it has started back autoconnecting.
