Hi all,

Planning to put a plow on a 2024 2500 AT4 that I'm about to order with the duramax. I am adding the snow plow prep package but it does not seem to auto add either the dual alternator or the auxiliary battery. Here are my questions:

Do these trucks come with a single battery with the diesel?

On my F250 gasser with a single battery every once in a while the plow will draw enough current to reset the truck dash display / electronics

Should I consider adding the dual alternator and auxiliary battery, or what would be the main use case for these adds?

With the hood scoop being [I believe] functional, is the plow going to create any turbo cooling or airflow issues? I can't imagine it will since they allow you to add the snowplow prep package? I know this is an issue on the current Tundras and upcoming Ram hurricanes, but those are 1/2 ton trucks.

Also is it possible to order aux switches from the factory on the AT4?

Thank you.

I believe the new Duramax diesels come with 2 batteries connected together  all of the time. The plow prep package eliminates the shutters.

The gas motor can be ordered with the plow prep package and an aux battery. My truck has both even though I won’t be plowing. No shutters on my truck. Aux battery is isolated when truck is off.

I did not see the upfitter option when I ordered my truck and forgot to ask about it. When I brought my truck home there was a harness under the back seat that appears to be for the upfitter option without the switches. I would ask your sales person if the upfitter can be ordered with the AT4. Maybe negotiate to have the harness installed during prep.

Non-plow package trucks has shutters or louvers behind the grill that open and close. Read all of that on this forum.

The diesel will come with 2 batteries.  You can get the second alternator.  It would probably be useful in your application and is pretty inexpensive when you order it.  I imagine it would be more involved and costly to add it later.

I wouldn't worry about the scoop too much.  The engine draws air from both the scoop and the fender area so if the scoop gets blocked, the engine can still breathe.

I believe you can order the upfitter switches but I don't think they come installed.  Either you need to install it or get the dealer to.  Someone who has them (I don't) could confirm.
