The door locks began toggling and mirrors would fold in about three weeks ago while driving and after I was out of the vehicle. I have gone in the settings and turned off everything related to keyless remote use. I'm using the to unlock the driver's door and the lock/ unlock switch to unlock the other doors. I had a mechanic buddy attempt to clean the connection pins in the switch panel in the drivers door but that didn't have any effect. I read an earlier post that it may be the keyless remote sensor by the rear window defrost connection. Any updates or info as what it may be causing this , please.

Door Lock System Controls

The power door lock system can be controlled by any of the following:

  • A door lock switch LOCK or UNLOCK activation
  • A key cylinder switch unlock activation
  • A keyless entry transmitter activation
  • Pressing the driver door lock plunger flush with the door panel will lock all doors

Seems like one of those is activating the 'lock' command. Have to try to narrow it down.

Any codes (B codes specifically)? Typical code readers probably won't pull them.

Additional vehicle specifications?

I took it to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and he put a code reader on the port. What is baffling me/him is that it will not toggle when he's in the vehicle. Very odd.  I'm thinking that it may be in the switch harness in the drivers door. Still baffled with it.

I could be wrong but I thought the remote control module was up in the roof console. But that makes me wonder if you have a leak in the roof maybe? I know that sharkfin antenna is prone to leaking. I had mine replaced because of that and have read many other threads on it. If you have a slight leak, maybe there is water damage to the module and causing these malfunctions?

Another trick I discovered is you can fool the truck into thinking the door is closed by pushing the locking latch on the back side of door into the engaged position. Not sure why but these no longer use the pin switch to show door is closed, instead it's built into the latch. That helped me once before when I was working on drivers side fuse box but couldn't access it with door closed. I closed the latch and all power was off that happens with closed door.

Seems like the truck won't lock the drivers door if it thinks there is a key in it.

The driver door will not lock when trying to lock it if the door is open and the key fob is in the cab. It’s to prevent people from locking their keys in the truck.

I also read more on it and the remote sensor in the roof could have water damage. If that is the situation, would a new sensor have to be programmed to the truck and key fobs?

My truck is doing the exact same thing.  I replaced the shark fin GPS antenna a couple years ago due to water damage. Is there a separate sensor up there?

Anyone fix the issue yet?

Thanks,

Tom C.

Started having the same issue on my 2016 GMC Sierra SLT my mirrors would fold down and my doors would toggle lock while driving, after troubleshooting this annoying issue I decided to remove the battery from FOB and use my spare one what do you know problem solved, went and had another FOB made with my locksmith he said it’s a open circuit or a sticky button from years of use.. hope this helps someone else
