tail gate drop button?

Is there a way to lockout the tailgate drop button?  I wish it required you to press it twice or a long 3 second press to drop the tailgate.  I have accidently dropped my gate several times by accidently pressing that button while getting something out of that little storage area below it.

 

Last week a friend was helping me load my boat on my trailer.  I was in the boat and he was going to back the trailer.  He was plugging his phone into the usb port and hit the tail gate button.  Yep, it hit the wench on the trailer.  I was able to cover the small ding with some black body molding so it looks factory but I think it's just too easy to drop that gate unintentionally.

No.

You might ask your dealer for some help. GM may have a lockout solution.
