srwoolc Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 (edited) 2021 1500 AT4 truck with a Bluetooth issue. 4 days ago my Bluetooth seems to have died. In the morning, phone was connected, everything is fine. Come back to truck later that day, my phone won't connect. Do a forget phone, and try to reconnect and the Connect Phone button is grayed out, so I can't connect phone. Also tried through Android Auto, and the connect to My GMC screen just sits there. The phone never sees the Bluetooth from the truck. Wife's Apple phone is the same. I called onstar who ran their script and after ten minutes said you have to take it to the dealership. Anyone else have this issue? What fixed it. Ami just SOL? Edited March 19, 2024 by srwoolc
PhilB Posted March 19, 2024 Posted March 19, 2024 These trucks are essentially computers on wheels. When your computer acts weird, you do a hard restart on it by turning off the power. After a few minutes you turn it back on and usually the weird issue is gone. I would recommend you do a hard restart on your truck by disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes. Then reconnect the battery and see if the bluetooth works.
srwoolc Posted March 21, 2024 Author Posted March 21, 2024 You were right -- computer on wheels. I started to do as you suggested, but with the 'extra' panel on top of the battery, I got a little scared and decided not to. It's not as simple as just undoing the positive lead. I have to unbolt the panel on top, pop it loose, and make sure none of the extra wires and fuses get messed up. Then I might be able to pull the positive lead.
PhilB Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 You could try disconnecting just the negative cable.
redwngr Posted March 21, 2024 Posted March 21, 2024 Did you reboot the phone during the forget/re-pair process?
srwoolc Posted March 22, 2024 Author Posted March 22, 2024 PhilB, I will do that. Redwngr - yes. And tried both an Android and an Apple phone. With the connect phone button grayed out, it doesn't seem to matter at all.
Niklasbraun Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 It seems like the issue might be with the Bluetooth module itself, but it could also be a software glitch or even an electrical issue.
srwoolc Posted March 25, 2024 Author Posted March 25, 2024 Niklasbraun - I think so. I pulled the negative cable yesterday and let it sit for a while. Some of my settings got lost, so I'm pretty sure it was long enough for a reset. Still same issue. Gray Add Phone button... Can't add via Android Auto either. I took it to the dealership today. I'll see what they come back with. $144 diagnostic fee!!!! That will be applied towards the repair.
srwoolc Posted March 27, 2024 Author Posted March 27, 2024 Well, dealer says there is a short in the radio. Extended warranty should cover it.
19 Denali ultimate Posted April 3, 2024 Posted April 3, 2024 I had something really weird happen with my Bluetooth a few weeks back. Was driving earlier and listening through Bluetooth and all was fine. Had to go out later and I was only getting audio from the passenger front speaker. Did all the disconnect/reconnect, re add phone, but nothing changed. The kicker was that on Sat radio and regular radio ALL the speakers worked fine. It was like this about 3 days, I didn't change anything and , POOF it works fine now.
