Hey guys,

I went into my tail light assembly to hardwire an led tail gate light bar. With what I seemed would be an innocent project had my scratching my head…I went to expose the wire to splice into my light bar wires with the truck turned off. I go to turn it back on and it says “check light assembly. Sure enough no power to the back left but right works just fine….thinking it was a fuse I went in and changed what I believe is the fuse # but still nothing….could I have shorted the whole assembly??

I tapped my marker bar with the clear LED backups into the left tail lamp and the B/U lamp circuit and have never had an issue. I did my 2021 and my 2024 the same way.

you will need a scanner to hook up and clear codes in the bcm, it thinks the light is shorted and turns off the power

oh that would be amazing. Thank you!!

I went in with my own scanner, found a code, deleted it, but check engine light is still on and assembly is still not working. Will a standard OBD-2 scanner not work?

Another quick update. I got the code out and engine light is gone but assembly still not working. Is it really possible I fried the whole assembly now?
