PS when I picked up my truck originally it had like 6 or 10 miles on it but a large number of hours in comparison and I was already home so I did not think much about it.

I found out later that Chevy new that they had some crappy issues and were having dealers put large fans in front of the trucks and run em at a high idle for X amount of time to see of they acted up.

I will search for that information.

Thanks for any and all input.

Are you saying that just recently it started this and for the first, say, 50,000 miles it was fine? 😉

Last oil change it came up, but I was travelling alot and added oil and kept running her thinking WTF but did not check records until I was into this oil change only 2k miles and it came on again so for the first 40K it was good to go.

My 2019 with 48k on it stays full.  When I got it brand new, I drove it like I did with any of my other vehicles. No break in, just got in and went.  The fact that the 6.2 has so much power, it was hard to keep it out of the redline. 🤣

Anyway, I changed the factory oil out at 500 miles, installed AMSOIL's OE 0w-20 and went to 1,500 miles, again with the OE 0w-20 and then went to 3,000 miles. Then installed AMSOIL's Signature Series 0w-20 and now following my used oil analysis for changes.  Currently going 10k on a change.  No oil usage at all.

Now I do drive in manual mode and select L9.  Have been since I purchased the truck.  This keeps auto stop and DFM off.

I also run a bottle of AMSOIL's P.i. every 4k miles as well as mix E85 fuel in with regular.  I fill 10 gallons of E85 and then fill the rest of the way up with regular or premium.  Have been doing that as well for over 40k miles.  No issues.  I want to convert it to flex fuel but for now the cost isn't worth it. Hoping down the line that cost will go down.

My 2020 has no E85 sensor so I run premium only either 91 or 92 depending on where I am at geographically.

I am using a Pulsar so no auto off and on or cylinder deactivation is occuring. Oil changes always at 30%ish with the 0-20 Dexos

I think the above poster with the fuel dilution idea may be onto something, but i am going to wait and see what the clowns at the circus come up with first.

I expect a jerk off session from the Dealer and or GM but I am prepared for the battle.

Truck is gorgeous, I have expelled the whole thing since it's first week and done exhaust and wheel and suspension upgrades to it blah blah so this sucks to have to deal with.

Stay after your dealer and don't let them beat you down.

Good luck.

Pull an oil sample and have a GC fuel run on it plus 100 C viscosity. If vis is fine and fuel is low, then at these miles lacquered rings would be my next best bet. Rings don't just 'unseat'. They stick. But make sure it isn't viscosity break first.

Where can I get the oil sample tested and how much will they need?

Ever wonder why GM calls for 5w30 in the LV3 and LV1, even today? Why 0w40 in the 6.2 Vette engine? That ought to tell you something.

See @Black02Silverado and ask for an Oil Analyzers sample kit.

Comes with instructions and he has everything you need.

    • Because that is IDIOTIC, much like this question. They've already been forced to do it by past administrations - why would you roll that back when it's a GOOD thing?  WHO IS ARGUING FOR LOWER MILEAGE???? 😂  NOBODY IS!!   I'm certainly not! What I want is RELIABLE vehicles again that are worth the price paid!    I don't get your logic here ...   In 2003 I paid $2,200 for our '86 Grand Marquis. It's STILL running and I've never been inside the engine, aside for the timing cover since it was leaking, so I threw a new timing set in since that makes sense. Transmission is ORIGINAL. Electric pump in the gas tank is ORIGINAL. Rear end is ORIGINAL. I'd have to hit my head REAL hard to want to pay $60k or more for a car that still can't come close to the comfort, seating and storage space, or reliability of this one. Nothing is even in the ball park! Hundreds of thousands of brands and models have been built and sent to the crusher while this one keeps on going!   https://postimg.cc/Z9XRrCSg   I've got a whole fleet of cars, motorcycles, and a truck close to this age for summer and winter. No one could pay me enough to buy anything built this century. I have zero use for any it.
    • Since I'm the one who has to fix them when they break, I'll take vehicles over 30 years old all day, EVERY day, over ANY modern crap. Have you attempted any repairs on anything built after 2006? It's a friggin nightmare, and gets worse the newer the model year.    If I had the will or desire, I can make any car of any age outside of a Model T (I don't have THAT much will ...) just as powerful, comfortable, and have all the tech the new stuff does, and get pretty close in mileage, too. I prefer SIMPLICITY. The less the vehicle has, the less to fix WHEN it breaks, not IF.   I'm glad you snot-nosed punks don't like them. More for us, plus that keeps the prices from climbing more than they already have.👍
    • Bringing this thread back on topic. I just noticed the incredible lack of bright chrome across the entire new lineup. Even the Denali has tinted the brightwork in the grille and has none elsewhere. None of them have chrome bumpers. As far as I can tell there aren't even chrome mirror caps. I'm curious if this also happens out back? Are there no chrome rear bumpers either? This is quite the departure for GMC.
