Yesterday I assembled a new desk chair I purchased online.  I was aware that assembly would be a challenge due to my recent surgery.  I checked the reviews on the product before buying and they were split on the ease of assembly.  With the help of some muscle from Mrs. Donstar, it went together without a hiccup.  It left me wondering why anyone would write a bad review?  The instructions were clearly written and well illustrated.  The assembly tool was provided and all parts were clearly labeled. I don't question the intelligence of those who struggled assembling this product but  find  it fascinating how two people given the same directions come up with such different results!

Keep right except to pass, don’t text while driving. Don’t buy this engine has a history of using oil. People don’t read anything.

That's why reviews mean little to me. Some people struggle with light bulb replacement.

I had to laugh when I read car and drivers review on the Ridgeline. They rated it best mid sized for 2025. Then later in the review rated only in front of the Nissan. Like number 5. The things they liked in the beginning, put it behind later in the same review. Namely being car like. Amusing.

Their all opinions. Why hasn't there been a standard test for road noise. I know tires and roads affect this but it could be done and more usefull than a lot of the other ratings IMO.

That’s exactly what kept me away from Honda for years. The CRV was given to my wife 2015 touring edition. Noisy sometimes on the intestate brutal. Then I traded for my daughters Odyssey 2016 mid options worse. Then I got a killer deal on the Ridgeline much better but still has some. Luckily the roads around me are smooth and north to Oklahoma aren’t too bad. But I carry noise canceling earphones. I haven’t driven anything newer than 2016 in a Honda. But the noise was always a dealbreaker when looking new. My father in law passed so I don’t make those multi day driving trips east anymore. Just 6 hours north. Otherwise a total interior strip and sound deadening would have happened. Surprisingly the Ridgeline isn’t too bad.

This reminds me of a past search for a replacement bulb for my flashlight.  I encountered more than one adult store clerk who didn't believe this to be a replaceable part.  All lights in my house are led.  If I was currently raising kids, they would have no memory of me changing a light bulb.  I bet there are many young, intelligent adults that would be scratching their heads when confronted with a light bulb replacement.

Everything is long life these days. I’ve always done my chores early while everyone was still in bed. After 12, it’s not happening unless it’s an emergency. As far as the generation after there’s a service for it. I saw a car going to the driveway to my rent house. It had a sign that said Krogers delivery. I did get some encouraging news my son’s boys do lawns in their neighborhood. A lost art. When I saw Starbucks getting popular I knew the direction we were heading. I think laziness is an art. The latest craze is a shot to lose weight. A robot partner is next.

I woke up yesterday with periodic light jabbing under my left rib area. Usually it’s on the right. Years ago when it started I asked my doctor about thinking it could be gallbladder. Six months of tests and the pain disappearing. The speculation was muscle strain. The left was new. I had mowed the lawn and trimmed. I also taped and painted the Ridgeline front bumper. Rock chips. Of course at night it got more pronounced. It put rub on it and went to bed. This morning it’s back to the right. Normal. Getting older is challenging.

I have been having trouble getting up in the mornings. It's not the getting up, it's the getting off the floor.

I sit on the edge of the bed asking the body for permission to stand up, unless I have to pee. Then it’s like a pin ball to the bathroom.

Getting older is challenging.  Aches and pains occur with greater frequency and are typically no cause for alarm.  However, "old age"  doesn't generate the pain.  If you are experiencing undiagnosed discomfort or pain, visit your Doctor.  I've told mine that I never want him to say, "I wish you had reported this sooner."   He concurs!

I never go on the floor without this in reach.  It's a garden seat/kneeler.  Cheap and effective.

Your need to play pinball may be effectively ended with a prescription from a Urologist.   Six months ago I was getting up to pee a couple of times a night without a second to spare.  Now, I may get up once but never need to rush.  If it is close to my usual wakeup time, I'll simply go back to sleep.

I drink a lot of water. Usually once a night. If I’m in a hurry it’s because I didn’t make a trip at all. I eat a light dinner and I’m a big water drinker.

    • Fix one problem and find another.   Truck didn't have a thermostat in it so I flushed out the system today and refilled with 50/50 Dexcool. This truck is so old (LOL) that it has a sticker under the hood alerting people to the fact that it contains such. There is also an orange supplement with the owner's manual alerting the owner that "Your vehicle is one of a number of late production 1995 General Motors vehicles that use a newly developed engine coolant in the cooling system..."   I was still a little flummoxed by what seemed like a rich condition (exhaust smell, and a puff of carbon with a punchy rev). While watching the coolant temperature and testing the thermostat with my scanner, I happened to notice the IAT (incoming air temperature) to the intake was -40F. I know the temp is below average today, but I can still feel my face, and I was wearing shorts.   D'oh!! I realized I had never plugged the IAT back in, and the airbox was out while I was doing coolant. So I paused, reinstalled the airbox and plugged in the IAT, and viola. Things cleared right up, and I watched the coolant temp climb to a reported 198 degrees on the scanner (195 thermostat) and then it dropped to 194 (open) and then back up to 198 and held. Let it cool, came back, checked the coolant level and was satisifed.   Victory lap?   It needed more than the couple of gallons of gas I put in it from almost bone dry, so I ran it up to the gas station. It had earned it, or, at least I was pretty certain I wouldn't be draining or removing the tank anytime soon.   CEL popped on just as I was cruising a nice steady 40mph, just after coasting down a slight downhill curve.. Of course, it did, because, why let me enjoy not having dash emojis for a little while.   I just happened to have the scanner plugged in. I don't text and drive but I might scan and drive. Don't tell the police.   P0401, EGR flow insufficient.    Well, hello, EGR... ...my old friend! Welcome to the party, now that the engine reaches the factory-programmed operating temperature. I'm sure it was gagging on hostile, rich exhaust and carbon this whole time so I'll take it off and look again.   At least it's easily accessible, and worst case, about $65 to replace.   To keep, or to sell... Hmm. I want it running correctly either way. It's easier to sell when there are no fault codes.   It needs tires (they're aged out and cracking)   It could probably use an oil pan seal, or maybe the timing cover gasket/ junction with the pan needs redone because I've got an issue there that leaves a drop of oil on the floor.   If I do tires I'm sure they'll say the ball joints could use freshening, and, and, and, and.... At some point I'll have to stop. I can't (shouldn't) make it perfect, that's not what this rig is.
    • Take it back. That's about all you can do.  Mark
    • Gloss black would look better, but I'd paint match the grill before ditching the chrome bumpers.
    • Mine has done that since new. The colder the worse.
    • Yeah, that's my understanding. The newer trucks are 433Mhz vs the older 315Mhz TPMS. Putting these wheels on is costing me a small fortune, but so far, I'm still OK with it.    Next week the chrome bumpers are scheduled to be replaced with flat black ones. That would complete what the dealer still owes me.
