2016 Silverado rear end whine (w/ video)

My 2016 Silverado has around 54,000 miles. A few weeks ago I changed out the fluid in my rear differential with Mobil-1 75W-90 Delvac. All seemed fine in the days/miles after. No leaks, noises, etc. A few days I noticed a whine coming from the truck when I turn at low speeds. I first thought it was coming from the front. I took it to the shop and they couldn't get it to make the noise. After a few more trips I started to think it was coming from the rear. I threw my camera under the truck and drove around the neighborhood. The camera caught the noise perfectly. I'm not saying the noise is related to the fluid change, but I knew I should mention it. This noise was absolutely not there prior to this though. I took the researched advice on here and used the oil I chose. If I should have used something else based on what the truck came equipped with, that's on me. I'm including a picture inside my diff from when I changed the oil. I'm also including my RPO codes if that helps.

That sounds like something grinding. Have you looked at the brake pads? On my 2018 Silverado I had to change out all the brake pads at 32,000 miles. All the inner pads were worn down to metal. Outer pads were barely worn.

The front’s are new with less than 1,500 miles. The rears were done less than two years ago and have to have less than 5,000 miles. This truck is a garage queen and I mainly drive it on the weekends.

Is it a 4 wheel? If so have you changed transfer case fluid and front diff oil?

Yup! I think I'm just going to drain out the M1 and put in the AC Delco part # that it calls for in the manual. I'm seeing a lot of disagreement if these differentials need a LS additive in the gear oil. Can't go wrong putting in what the manufacture suggests.

these trucks have locker diff., so (usually) no additives are required, if it is only making the nosie on turns, then could be a locker issue. I have a 18 'Rado (with some performance work), and sometimes when I get on it, the locker sometimes "Get's Stuck", and I have to back up to release it. Try jacking up one of the rear wheels and in drive "Slowly" release the brake and see if will lock, or make that noise, just be carful.

@VenLup - I am having the exact same issue in the exact same circumstance. I replaced my rear end fluid with delvac 75W90 and now have a “whine” when turning corners slow. It seems to be more noticeable after doing some driving. It’s been driving me crazy. Did you ever figure out what was causing this and/or figure out the fix?
