Wrecked Multi-Flex tailgate replacement?

The option's price is the cost difference from the base part (if there is 1) on the truck. I wonder what the cost of a standard tailgate is. I'm sure there is some profit built into the option price too.

 

A similar comparison could be made w/ optional wheels. Obviously the price of of the base wheels is part of the truck's price. You aren't going to walk over to parts counter & order 4 wheels for $500.

I wonder if the 'wreckers' would prefer to sell the whole tailgate rather than cannibalize it? If you took the main part of it, then they would be left with having to store the folding/centre section.
