Just replaced the battery in Dizzy today. OEM plus one over 10 years. I'm happy with that. 5 years each. It wasn't dead but turning to slow for comfort on a 15F day. Wife's daily driver. Safety first, right?

As I mentioned earlier, Pepper doubles that. 10 year per battery but her circumstances are 'ideal'.

Replacement brand? Lead acid or AGM?

The main battery in my 2024 only lasted a few months. The last truck I kept more than a few years was my 2005 Duramax and they were 8 yrs old when I replaced them. Batteries are a crap shoot at best these days. GM got a bunch of bad ones around the time my truck was built and apparently I got a dud, some didnt even make it to the transporter before they crapped out.

Use whatever was in it when it was built.

'19 -'22, if it has stop/start it has AGM.

If no stop/start then it has flooded.

'23 -'25 all 1500's have AGM

L5P uses (2) flooded batteries

LT8 it depends on year

From '19-'21 the 5.3 could have either depending on presence of stop/start.

The difference in CCA, AH and in the batteries for the 5.3 are insignificant.

('22 they were all stop/start)

Flooded cell Interstates go in after the OEM dies. I use them because the do proper warranty works when required and that isn't often.

I think I get good service life from the low 'key cycle' to "charge time" ratio. And I use a battery tender if it sits more than a few weeks. People that use their vehicles mainly in the city where you use the started allot but the trips are short so charge time is short leave the battery struggling to maintain charge. Crazy worse in the winter. IMHO of course. Good candidates for hard wired Battery Tenders.

Has anyone fit an H8 size battery into their non Duramax Silverado/Sierra 1500?

Yes, with minor modifications on a 2014 Sierra.

It's a tight fit, but a snug fit. I had to cut the front and rear battery supports however I'm not concerned about it moving around at all -- the back of the battery is flush on the firewall and has a paper thin clearance from the reservoir. It's in their very snug.

See my post here yesterday.

Not sure the newer vehicles still have the same clearances, but yes, I did it.
