These have hit the lots this week in L.A. This grey one just came off the truck. Beautiful truck, very practical, easier to park and better gas milage than the 2500's , lots of room in the back seat too. I ordered the GMC version (not a fan of the Avalanche front) with 4.10 gears, can't wait till mine comes in. Mark

I believe the bed is 5'-8" long. I think they use the ext cab., short bed (6.5') frame and take out 10" from the bed and use it to make the crew cab seat.

Make sense?

But this truck got LAST place in the Car and Driver magazine truck shootout!:fume::D

Seriously, gorgeous looking truck!! So, big question. Is it running coil (ala Avalanche/Burb) or leaf (Sierra/Silverado) springs in the back? My dad's Avalanche rides amazingly well.

zshumo, here are the specs from Chevrolet.com

Crew cab 225.9" long overall

Ex-cab 227" long overall

CC Box length 5'8"

Ex-cab box length 6'6"

If they are incorrect (I think I measured my box @ 6'8") don't shoot the messenger. :fume: Just quoting the General.

I saw a truck with 4 Z71 CCs on it yesterday leaving the GM plant. 2 white ones with painted (white) fender flares, and two Silver Birch metallic (same painted flares).....MAN those are good looking trucks. The flares make a BIG difference on the way that those front ends look.

I really like that Silver Birch metallic color.

Great Pics I have a 2004 GMC 1500 crew on order to be built 3/19/04. Does anybody know which plant these are made in?

Oshawa, Ontario. My order s/b at the dealer today. Was due there Wed. 2/18. Ordered my Chevy on 1/8 w/o any pricing.

Wow! That price seems high, very high.....

I picked up a 2004 2500LD Crew Cab with the exact same options except mine didn't have the tube side steps and XM radio, but does have a 6.0L and the 2500 has the tranny temp guage....sticker on it was $38,310....now their charging more for a 1/2 ton than they are a 3/4 ton....must be getting ready to steal from all those "soccer moms" wanting to upgrade from a minivan to a pickup.....

I haven't had a chance to check out one of these 1500 CC yet, but I doubt the frame is the same as an ext. cab shortbed. If you look at the frame of a truck is rises sharply after the cab. This wouldn't allow room for the crew cab to fit. The wheelbase and overall length may be the same, but the frame won't be.
